Breaking Technology in the Field of Dental Implants

By Al Fallah, DDS, FICCMO

Dental implants have been around for years, but with advances in x-rays, as well as dental technology, the world of dentistry is being rapidly enhanced with something once unheard of in the dental arena – comfort!

“With the use of tomography, which is basically a 3-D x-ray machine, dental implantation has never been easier on the patient,” Dr. Fallah explains. “With tomography, all vital structures which are pertinent for dental implantation can be seen. From the nerves and bones to the sinuses, everything is shown in 3-D, adding precision to the placement of dental implants.”

Traditionally, dentists had to cut the gum in order to have access to the bone so as to be able to see well enough to visually place the implants, and then suture. It would then take up to four months or so to place the tooth. The problem encountered with that method is that the location and density of the bone varies among individuals, and because the traditional x-ray is not 3-dimensional, the dentist had to rely upon a certain amount of guesswork.

With tomography, dental implant experts such as Dr. Al Fallah can actually see where there is the most bone, and thereby determine the perfect position for implants. This minimizes compromise and enhances the success of the implant by using stints in combination with tomography. The stint follows the cosmetic contour of the teeth, allowing for precision. This gives the patient more comfort, a totally natural look, and the best cosmetic result.

This new method helps to eliminate added steps. Before, dentists would visually implant the tooth and then send the patient to a cosmetic dentist to finish the job. Now a specially trained cosmetic dentist, like Dr. Al Fallah, can do it all! This method is procedurally precise, more comfortable, and best of all, safe. This latest advancement in the dental implant field is the perfect combination of high technological precision, security, and comfort.

Not all cosmetic dentists can use this method, but for dentists like Dr. Al Fallah, who have been trained in the latest technological advancements in the dental implantation field, they can offer their patients the incredible marriage of comfort and precision.
